Setting up a Blog

Taun Brown asked on March 26, 2014 08:29

just looking for a quick answer about setting up a blog for the first time. I know there is a blog post document type and a web part to show recent blog posts, but what web part are people using to just show the blog post? ideally what I would like it a list of blog posts with links that go to the blog clicks that shows the full blog.

sorry for the basic question, but I am still getting to learn the ropes in Kentico.

Check out the Blog template. Create a page and use that template to start with and you'll have a perfect example of how to get your blog working with a list, month view and detail view.

Brenden's advice is what I would suggest as well - there really is no substitute for seeing it in practice on the default Corporate site, if you have it installed.

Repeaters are pretty much exclusively used to display both the summarized blogs in a list as well as the actual final individual posts (Selected item transformation).

I would also add that the developer's guide has an excellent section on the blogs module, available here: http://devnet.kentico.com/docs/devguide/module_blogs_overview.htm
