Master page tab is missing aftr Import site or Object from Sites

Jagdish Narkar asked on June 10, 2014 15:01

I did export from local machine and import the same site on development environment using "Import site or objects" features from Sites section. First time I did import as new site and I noticed that Master Page tab is missing for the Master Template (Template Type: Portal). I would need this tab to make changes to portal master template.

Can you please help me with this one?

Jagdish

Hi Jagdish,

I am not sure if this is your case, but it is possible that some macro signatures are broken. You can try to update those signatures in System application (Applications -> System -> Macros -> Signatures and Update macro signatures).

Hello Jagdish,

sometimes it's just as easy as using the Search (e.g. search for "missing master page"). I have already published an article about this issue: Missing Master page tab in Kentico 8 (after hotfixing or importing a website).

Best regards, Martin

Do you have any other suggestions? Updating the macro signatures and restarting the site didn't work for me. (Kentico 8.2, hotfix 8.2.11).

Thanks! Bill Gross

Hi Bill,

Regrettably there was also a bug in the macro signatures process. It was fixed in hotfix no.12. Would it be possible for you to downlaod and apply this hotfix?

To resolve macro issues you could set the "CMSHashStringSalt" value in the web.config to the same value as used in the export source instance. After I did it, the masterpage tab appeared in the target instance as well.
