Kentico 12 Facebook and LinkedIn not connecting

S T asked on July 25, 2023 13:30

Hi, I've tried to connect my Facebook and LinkedIn page/apps to kentico and I've followed the steps provided in the docs here https://docs.xperience.io/k12sp/integrating-3rd-party-systems/integrating-social-media/connecting-kentico-to-social-media and here https://docs.xperience.io/k12sp/integrating-3rd-party-systems/integrating-social-media/adding-social-media-accounts

Facebook -> New Page ->Authorize sometimes gives me "something went wrong" error or "The domain of this URL isn't included in the app's domains." even tho I've added the return domain urls as provided in the docs.

Linkedin -> New Company profile -> Select company gives me "Bummer, something went wrong."and every 5 seconds redirects me to the same window.

Has anyone dealt with these problems and please suggest on how to resolve them ?

Regards

Have you tried checking the fixed bugs? There were some changes from FB and LI side and some were addressed in hotfixes.

Hi @Juraj, I've just read the fixed bugs release notes but I think they have changes since than as for LinkedIn there is no more Marketing Developer Platform in the product section and the permissions are different.

The only thing for Facebook that I found is "Ensure that your app has the 'pages_manage_posts', 'pages_read_user_content' and 'read_insights' permissions, upgrade the Facebook API Version to 'v8.0', and generate a new page access token for your Facebook app in Kentico." which I don't know or dont see in the Facebook module to update these permissions nor in the Settings > Security and Membership > Authentication > Facebook.

Nevertheless, the problem occurs when clicking Authorize on the Facebook module and Select a company in the Linkedin module where it says that the domain isn't added or just breaks.

In the facebook app configuration I added all domains and checked them with the Redirect URI validator tool that is right below the allowed domains, but it still doesn't work and the Linkedin after selecting a company just redirects to the "Bummer" error with my website link.

Any other ideas on why this is behaving like this ?

We have not found any issues and both FB and LinkedIn are working fine. Well, we have tested it on the Kentico 13 version because v12 is not longer being updated/hotfixed anyway. It is important to follow all the steps from our documentation, exactly - everything must be done, nothing can be skipped. Then, another important thing is to have the apps verified. E.g. on FB you must have the app verified. The integration may not work with apps in "development" mode.
