How to ensure document content updates get logged as staging tasks?

How do I ensure document content updates will get logged as staging tasks?

Currently, after I change a document's content and hit Save, no task appears in the Staging app. If I go to Settings > Versioning & Synchronization > Staging, all of the checkboxes are checked. Other activities do result in staging tasks being logged.

I'm using Kentico 8.0.18.

Are you using Workflow or versioning? If so, you'll need to publish the document if I remember right.

We are using workflows and versioning. However, this didn't prevent "UPDATEDOC" tasks from being logged in the past (when we were on Kentico 6). Is this a change with Kentico 7/8?

In 7 for sure I know it is like this, haven't tested in 8.

Hi Bryan,

Brenden is right. Document changes are logged as staging tasks only if they are in a "Published" step. However, you can still synchronize those unpublished documents as well using a "Synchronize current page" button on a Staging -> Pages tab.
