File upload control in forms (Kentico 12 MVC)

Jeroen de Kort asked on March 15, 2019 15:03

On this page in the documentation for MVC is says the following:

Accessing uploaded files

If your form contains a field for uploading files, you can access such file by editing a form's record. Click the file's name to download the file.

However, so far I haven't found an option in Kentico 12 MVC to add a form field to upload a file.

How can I add add a form component for file upload using the form builder?

Hi Jeroen

Unfortunately, that note is for Portal only at the moment as the file upload control is not available out of box for MVC.

Not out of the box? So there is a way to do it outside the box? If so, could you please tel me how? We really need it. It's quite a drawback compared to portal engine.

I checked our CRM and looks like your agency has some developer training seat available. I would recommend you to take the Kentico 12 MVC Developer training. There is a new module been added for MVC widget and form control for MVC and it has an example on building an upload control. Too complex to copy everything over here (and I can't do that because it's part of the training at the moment as well).
