Disabled page alias field?

Jim Piller asked on April 16, 2020 18:16

I inherited a project from another company and as I've been refactoring, I've come to realize that ALL of the objects in the content tree have the Page Alias field under properties disabled. I've never seen this before and I have to imagine it's done at the global level. I've search through the documentation and Google and I can't find anything that says how to undo this. Does anyone have any ideas where I would find this setting, either in the CMS project or in the CMS itself?

Hey Brenden,

So it was the "Automatically update page alias" option that was checked on and once I checked that off, it allows me to now update the page alias path. I didn't know that was a thing, but thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

If you check the box above the page alias, does it open up? Most likely a URL Setting issue in the settings of the site.

There is no checkbox above the page alias field. It's just disabled. Could they have modified the CMS code to do this somehow?

My mistake, I was thinking of the Page URL Path. I believe if you have the Settings > URLS and SEO > Page URLs > Use name path for URL path checked, it by default, uses the name you provide on the Form tab as the default for the URL thus not being able to change it without going to the Form tab. This is default out of the box functionality.
