default.aspx on homepage

Jim Bills asked on December 17, 2014 21:00

As of right now, I have a homepage which displays using both www.sample.com and www.sample.com/default.aspx. What is the easiest way to simply have the default.aspx always redirect to the www.sample.com version. I am trying to get rid of duplicated content. Thanks in advance.

Make sure to restart your website and clear the cache on the server and it should take care of it.

You can make this change in the settings. Check out URLs and SEO>SEO - URLs>Default page. Set the dropdown selection to "Use domain root". This should resolve your issue.

Wow. After all that tinkering, I didn't realize it was that easy. Thanks for the help.

For some reason the www.sample.com/default.aspx still does not redirect. to www.sample.com. Am I missing something?

Hi,

I would like to add to Brenden's suggestions - use different browser or clear browser cache. these days browsers are heavily caching any redirects to act faster.
