This is a second post focused on small features coming in version 6.0. In this part, I will focus mainly on features which will improve the work of web developers and/or ASP.NET developers.

CSS style selector web part

The new CSS style selector web part allows us to define more CSS styles for the website and dynamically use them on user request.

Custom CSS for each web part

In version 6.0, we can easily add a custom CSS for any web part container. Just click on the Edit button and we can manage HTML before, HTML after and CSS for the given web part.

Custom CSS

Direct edit/creation of CSS stylesheets/transformations

Similarly as we saw in the previous point, we can edit and create other properties like CSS stylesheets or transformations directly in web part properties or in properties of a page.

Document type improvements

With Kentico CMS 6.0, we will get two new “minor” document type enhancements.

The first is direct upload of Document type icons as shown in the following figure.

The second is more important and very often required. It’s called inheritance of document types! In version 6.0, we will be able to inherit fields from one document type by another one.

Field Editor

The Field editor that is used e.g. by On-line forms got new design and better navigation across field sections.

Stored procedures and views editor

No more need to go to SQL Server Management studio to manage tables, views and stored procedures! Kentico CMS 6.0 brings us management of these objects directly from Site Manager.

T-SQL Editor

Stylesheet themes management

Version 6.0 offers us direct management of Themes files. So, we needn’t manage files in the file system anymore.

Syntax highlighter

As we saw in several blog posts focused on new features of version 6.0, this version offers syntax highlighting for CSS, HTML and T-SQL.

·         Support of hierarchical transformations

·         Various transformations for

o   Last item, first item, header, footer, etc.

·         Transformations for selected items

·         Item separators

There are several prepared web parts supporting universal viewing.

Dont you think that "Custom CSS for each web part" makes editing stylesheets more complicated? I guess all css definitions should be placed in one place. It can be very hard to find some class definition if is placed in some webpart. Does Kentico CMS solve this kind of problem?
