What is 'fbclid'?

Jacob Mallach asked on November 3, 2020 16:09

Hello,

I'm retrieving a video url from my codebehind file and a value is being appended to my string by Kentico called 'fbclid'. The fbclid breaks my url. What is this and why is it happening?

Here is what the url is looking like. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7A2YWmoij_A&fbclid=IwAR3CtW98DXwUSNAtH3cl8Hw8qQvB58vuL6cYAJfTXSdGS-jIGQ_Sgb2Z-VM?autoplay=1;&rel=0

Thanks for the help.

To answer your question more thoroughly, fbclid is part of Facebook's tracking system (analytics). Most likely the URL was in Facebook somewhere and copied with that URL parameter on it and pasted into your system. I'd NOT expect it to be automatically added by anything Kentico does.

Ok - apologies for the post, i've answered my own question. The fbclid was part of the original url.
