"Web Part Zone" Web part is not visible on child pages

Kayla Johnson asked on August 17, 2018 20:45

I created a template for our client site that simply has one Zone in it. In that Zone I put one Web Part - the Web Part Zone, so that they can build their own pages. It works fine for the most part, but on the Page and Edit Views, this Web Part Zone does not show up.

For example, The Company page is assigned this Template. I was able to build out this page fine. But Company has a child page, Locations. It gets assigned the same template. But I cannot see the Web Part Zone to add any widgets.

Web Part Screenshot: https://prnt.sc/kjw551 Working Parent Page screenshot: https://prnt.sc/kjw5mk Not Working Child Page screenshot: https://prnt.sc/kjw5te you can see there is only one editable region and that is for the banner image, not the page content.

The Web Zone settings clearly have "Hide on subpages" unchecked. And "allow design mode" checked. What gives?

Web Part Zone settings are looking fine, you just need to check Page Template of the child page its inheriting the parent page template.

If the first (Parent) page template is master template there must be a Page Place holder web part inside the Master template.

Also need to check if content is coming from the form fields it will not available for child pages.

Are you saying they can't use the same template? Both the parent and child pages are using "Interior Redesign" Template.

Are you using an editable text web part? well if you have it on your master template page - it will not work on child pages that using this master template. It is due to the fact that editable web part saves data on document level (not on the template level). if there is no parent-child relations then it will be the same editable text for all the templates.

No, please reference my screenshots. The only web part on the template is a Web Part Zone - that is what the grey hamburger icon is for on the working parent template screenshot. That is the icon for the Web Part Zone for the user to add their own web parts on the Page view. This is not showing up on the child pages.

You can see the Design view here, of me setting up the page with an Editable Image, and a web part zone, in one zone, and in another zone I have another web part zone, and an editable text. https://prnt.sc/klay5l

On the Page view, only the 2 editable web parts show. https://prnt.sc/klay9h

And you can see both zones are part of the page content.
