Tracking Open Rate for Roles, Contact Groups subscribed to Newsletters

Gabriel Tinnaro asked on February 24, 2017 18:13

Greetings, friends -

In setting up our newsletter in Kentico 8.0.17 I subscribed a Role as a newsletter subscriber, but when I send the newsletter to the role, it only tracks ONE send, so although I see 3k+ emails sent, I only see 1 Open email, because it's tracking the whole role as a single subscriber. I've been going through the documentation but I can't seem to find a solution where I can get a real open rate. Have I misconfigured it or am I missing something? Would I get different results if I had used a Contact Group?

Thanks for your consideration.

With a little more testing, it seems that using a Contact Group I do get a real open rate in Kentico 8.0, but only if I have "Log on-line marketing activities" checked in the newsletter configuration. I had it set up wrong.

Hi Gabriel Sorry that either Role or Contact Group will track individual openings. Role will at least show 1 open, contact group will not even show that 1 open. You will have to extract all the individual name and email and add them directly as subscribers.

But I do want you to know, this feature has been enhanced a lot in V10 which is bit different than v8. In v10, you can only select contacts or contact groups (no more users, roles as those are not really OM type of features). And I've tested when add contact group to the "recipients" list (not called subscriber anymore), the report does track individual email opening and click through.

Good catch, I guess there is some issues with my v8.0.0 instance that the contact group is not been tracked.

Joaquin, 8.0.17 is a hotfix version to 8.0, you can get all the hotfix here: https://devnet.kentico.com/download/hotfixes
