Rename Blog Month to say "Archive"

Dcode warner asked on March 30, 2017 22:31

This is the current blog URL path: /blog/March-2017/[post title]

We would like to remove the "March-2017" in the URL path to say just "Archive". So it reads: /blog/archive/[post title]

(No need to worry about the other months. We won't be using months to categorize blog posts)

What about all previous month e.g. Feb-2017, Jan-2017? Will they all say archive?

The out of box page types for blog has the structure of Blog, Blog Month, Blog post. If you don't want to have that 3 tire system, you can create a custom page type which is similar to blog post.

Then you content tree structure can be like this

Root
  |-- Blog (page menu type)
       |-- archive
          |-- blog 1
          |-- blog 2
          |-- ...

@Rui Wang Yes. They will all the previous will say archive. We won't access them either way. I was thinking I can keep the document tree in the CMS desk the same.

If you want to do that, you should follow my suggestion above. Because with the default implementation of blog, when you create a new blog post, the new month level will be created automatically. And you cannot rename all the month folder to the same name. Unless you crate a archive folder and manually move them all in to that folder.
