Redirect page alias to external URL

Kathleen Qu asked on August 18, 2016 19:41

I am looking to redirect from a page alias example domain.com/alias to an external website to which I have access to, but do not own. Unfortunately I have not found any information on this from the Kentico 9 documentation.

Please advise. Thank you very much!

Very Easy.

Create a page somewhere (Like in the Special Pages folder), go to the Properties -> URLs on that document, create a new alias and set it to what you want (ex "/alias")

Then, go to the Properties -> Navigation of the document, and set the Navigation to "Url Redirection" and set the external site (http://thesite.com/blah)

The alias will redirect the user to that page, which then will send them off to the other site!

Kentico also has a redirect module that you can install if you are doing a lot of redirects. Only drawback is that you have to modify the code to get it to allow external redirects. I have a blog post with more information. http://www.imediainc.com/blog/may-2016/kentico-url-redirect-module-fix-external-redirect
