Page exists in CMS but getting 404 Error

Sini Sivasankaran asked on January 16, 2015 07:01

Hi All

When we hit a particular page in Kentico site we are getting a 404 error even though the page exists. The worst part is we are hosting the site in a 3 servers web farm and one of them works at a particular point of time and other two throws 404 error. I was also able to preview the page from all three servers. Some of our internal users reported the issue only in Chrome and the page resolved on its own after 2 hours. Now we are not able to reproduce the issue. But we are investigating to find how such an error could occur so we put in right settings and prevent the issue from happening again.

CMS version : v8.0.15

Thanks Sini

I've seen something similar happened when web farm is not configured correctly. Lets say you've published a page, which physically happened on the one server of your web farm, and other server did not synchronize immediately because of incorrect web farm settings, so they don't know the page has been published. After their cache has expired they've loaded data from database, so now you're not able to reproduce it.

Hi,

It looks like that the output cache was enabled for the page set as page not found. This meant that this page got cached until the cache expired. Disabling output cache for this particular page should have solved this issue.
