missing twitter webpart

Edward Sears asked on June 5, 2014 10:06

We are running v7.0.54 and have noticed that the twitter webparts are not available within the CMS. If I go to SiteManager>Development>WebParts and search for Twitter I get no results. When I look at the file structure however, I see that all the required files appear to be there under CMSWebParts/CommunityServices/Twitter/*.

What could be the cause of this? I'm not sure if there are others which are missing as well. Are there are any log files that would report problems loading web parts?

Originally we installed v6 quite some time ago, and then upgraded to v7 and applied hotfix 54. Could it be related to this upgrade?

If I remember right there are some API changes with Twitter and it caused the built-in webpart to fail. You might check out the Marketplace to see if there is one that will work with your instance and try it out. You could also create the UI part of the webpart if you'd like within Kentico and reference the files but as I mentioned, I believe the API changed.

Hello Edward,

What exact edition of Kentico are you running? Is this web part assigned to your website?

Hi Martin,

We are running the Ultimate edition. As for assigning the web part to our website - I'm not sure I know how to do that (I'm hopeful that this is the problem). As mentioned, I do not see it in the Site Manager - so I'm not sure how I could assign if that needs to be done.

Thanks for your response - and you too Brenden!

Hi Edward,

I don't see any reason why these web parts shouldn't be available. Try to apply the latest hotfix for version 7 as first, if thay won't help, simply create new web parts and link them to the default ones.

Best regards, Martin
