There is a setting under Settings -> System -> Event Log: Log to filesystem (checkbox)
The documentation states that these logs are placed under: CMS\App_Data\logEvents.log
Though this file is missing in both our development environments and our deployment environments when the setting is True. We're currently running 8.1 Hotfix 15
Does the user running the app pool have read/write/modify access to the App_Data directory?
Yes, in multiple environments too. Would upgrading MVC to 5.2 and Web API 2.2 cause this issue? Seems as though it has caused issues with the windows services, not sure if it is related to this.
That's a good question. I've never found any good reason to use MVC with Kentico so haven't had to worry about it. If you haven't already, you might check out asp.net website for info on the MVC and Web API upgrades and breaking changes specifically.
to get this working correctly, please upgrade to Kentico 8.2 and apply the latest hotfix.
