Kentico 8 - Changing Page Type

Kyle G asked on November 7, 2014 20:52

Is it possible to change the document/page type after the fact? We had an old Kentico 6 instance with hundreds of pages. When creating our new Kentico 8 environment, we defined a new structure, with new types.

Do I have to re-create every single one of these pages or is there a script or something than can be written to change the type?

Thanks!

There isn't a feature within the UI to simply switch it over to a new page type. What you can do is use the Import Toolkit and import the v6 items into the v8 instance. There you can map the fields you want and the path they are on without issue.

Its easier to think about it, if you understand that each Page Type (Document Type) is stored in its own table.

Hello Kyle,

This is not supported scenario at the moment but the requirement already exists for this functionality, so please vote for it on the UserVoice: Migrate documents from one document type to another.

Best regards, Martin
