Ei Dar Li Ko Ko asked on February 25, 2019 07:15

I know Kentico not supported the Kentico 8.2 version anymore but if any other Kentico community members facing the same issue, I would want your help. The attached is the image on time out error. But it keep showing the error sql on the page template. Check Image: https://prnt.sc/mpogkp

Few things that might help us identify the issue:

  • Does this happen to everything staged to the next server, just specific items, or everything you stage a lot of items?
  • Do you see any response on the target server (or errors in the event log)?
  • I assume the query isn't the issue, but the "or the server is not responding." part
  • is syncing run manually or by a task?

Also check if the page template category (the folder structure the page template is found in) exists on the target site, if not you may be trying to push the child without it's parent.

Thanks for the reply. There are 4 Kentico sites running at same time. 2 are Kentico 10 and 2 are Kentico 8.2. Kentico 10 also having this "Time Out" error when synchronizing but only on the big media files. But Kentico 8.2 cannot synchronized at all.

  • Every Staging server happened. Currently alot of items are stagged in there. But We delete the old tasks already from last year.
  • Can see in the link for the event log in production (https://prnt.sc/mq4whw) also having error.
  • The production server is there and is responding. There is sync from the Production to DR too which is running.
  • I tried manually sync one task but it failed with the error.
  • Page Template exist I check on the DB also. There is no sync task on the template.

What do you mean you have to at 8.2 and two at 10? Not in the same Kentico instance right? You can't run Kentico sites if different versions on the same app pool and database.

Also timeouts if larger media files usually means you need to expand the timeout and Max request lengths, but usually you get 404 error on staging tasks if it's just too large.

Thanks for the reply. I have increased the time out already and add the staging key for the time out. What I mean is having 2 sites synchronizing from Kentico 8.2 and have 1 site from Kentico 10 and another site from Kentico 10 is not yet enabled for the sync.

Has it ever worked between these instances? If yes anything changed to the environment?

How are these instances hosted? Your own hosting, Azure? Is there any CDN/DDOS/something protection layer service used in front the website (something like Cloudflare)?

Is the target hosted on HTTPS? is that correctly signed, what TLS version? Double check the url (with/without www).

Thanks for reply.

Yes, it has worked before. Kentico 8.2 is set up for 2 years already. But the Kentico 10 is recently added last year. The servers are hosted by the client. There is only DMZ zone. The server has SSL.

Is the server url also set to https? When you got test on your staging server configuration screen does it come back with an okay?

The server url is using the IP to connect.

Can you try using the domain instead of ip? Unless you have an ssl cert for an IP which would be odd

Thanks for the reply. Cannot use the domain because the domain is connected at web server level which is in DMZ zone. The error is so weird even change the Time Out on the sql, restart the servers, the error still exist.

If it can't reach the site, just increasing timeout will not help.

If you type in that IP in your browser would it serve the website?

Things to check:

  • Is target IIS configured to serve your Kentico site on that IP
  • in the Kentico admin interface, is the target site configured (probably as a domain alias) to use that IP as it's domain.
  • Do you have an actual Kentico License for that IP
  • as Trevor mentioned do you have a valid SSL certificate for SSL on that IP
