Kentico 7 to 8 upgrade converted app to .net 4.5, how to undo

Development Support asked on July 3, 2014 13:43

In a bit of a pickle. I used the Kentico 7 to 8 upgrade tool to upgrade a site that is .net 4.0, but during the process it converted the site to .net 4.5, so when i pushed it from our dev boxes (which have 4.5) to the production server (which does not have 4.5) it errored out. I have the site in offline mode, trying to fix before having to roll back the database and files back to 7 on production, firstly can you address why it does this and secondly a solution for myself?

In Visual Studio on your v8 site, you can change that to use .net 4.0 vs. 4.5. Right click the website and go to property pages. Then in the Build section change it from 4.5 to 4.0. Make sure you have a back up of the site prior to doing this, just in case.

Successfully completing the upgrade procedure may take a significant amount of time, particularly for heavily customized projects. We recommend that you keep your production site running and first perform a “test upgrade” to try out the process in advance and determine the scope of the upgrade for your project. You then need to repeat the process for another copy of the project and the production database.

Get the free version of app from appeven store (appeven.net).
