Kentico 12 Rich Text editor widget media library path

S T asked on April 25, 2023 11:41

Hi, I've downloaded the rich text editor widget for kentico 12 from here: https://devnet.kentico.com/marketplace/rich%20text%20editor%20widget

When I want to insert an image the page crashes because the media library is very large. I can see in the network tab that it tries to load all the images, takes some time and then crashes.

Is there a way to configure this widget to load images from a specific media library folder ?

Note: I have the latest v12 hotfix.

Kind regards

First you might start by looking at your media library and how it's structured. While Kentico says there is only a limitation for external media libraries, we've found it to be problematic with internal media library storage as well. Limiting the number of files per folder to 100 is a best practice and should be followed in all projects. See the documentation here.

Hi Brenden, There is many problems with the media library in sense that it has many files and also large files and not per best practices but I can't re-structure it at this point that why I ask is there a way to point the Kentico rich text widget to a new media folder when inserting an image ?

Thanks for the additional info. You should be able to extend that widget, however, you may be better off taking advantage of the Froala editor documentation to find out how to add/configure that or add a new button to the editor.

Hi Brenden, Thank you for the info but the froala documentation did not help much as it does not explain configuring this package that was on the kentico marketplace, only to build a new custom buttons which I tried but with no luck. Is there a simpler way to target a folder for this insert image ?
