Icon Encoding

Robert Tyska asked on March 11, 2015 01:46

Working on version 8.2 and having some issues with the icons... I'm not sure if it is an encoding issue, or what, but after a non-so-long amount of time in admin, they just turn to some odd character. The same odd character, no matter what the icon was. Happens across the entire admin interface. Closing browser seems to take care of it, but only for a short period of time. Also, we can got to encoding settings in the browser, uncheck TUF and then recheck and it is fine as well. Any ideas on what's causing this?

Are you using IE8? Have you tried to clear the cache in the application as well as restart IIS as well as clearing the cache in your browser?

Have not tried IE yet, only Chrome (OSX and Windows 7) and FF on (OSX and Windows 7). I have not tried to clear the application cache... how would I do that?

Also, not to pick nits, but I am seeing this locally in dev and out on our staging server, so even if clearing the cache fixes it short-term, it is still an ongoing issue. Client will not be happy with that after dropping big $$$ on your top-end license.

If you just did the install its 99% of the time caching related. The Admin interface is not supported in IE8 or below, I believe the system requirements state that pretty clearly. I've done a dozen or two installs of v8 and clearing the browser cache will fix the issue, permanently. Any time you do an upgrade and those css or js files change you will run into the same issue. Clearing the cache, fixes the issue.

I noticed this happening when my computer was extremely low on resources.
