Featured Blogger Role

Rachel Shearer asked on July 11, 2014 06:40

I am trying to set up a new role "Featured Blogger" where a user can log in and create edit blog posts but no other documents. If I have it set that the pages checkboxes in UI Personalisation/Administration/ Module/ Pages are unchecked you can get to the create new blog but it then says it is forbidden. If pages is checked the featured blogger can create pages etc which I do not want. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks

What if you just control that on the properties of the root of blogs. You should be able to set the user roles to your role on the root of blogs and then control the others by inheriting. The properties should have a security tab, which you can assign permissions and roles.

Hi thanks for your reply, I tried adding the role to the blog but it still does the same thing, if pages is not selected within the administration it won't allow for new blog posts to be created.

Hello Rachel,

It is possible to achieve your goal by setting permissions the following way:

In Site Manager -> Administration -> Permissions -> Modules - Content, set Browse tree and Read permissions for appropriate role but make sure that Create permission is disabled. Then you only need to set Create permission for this role for the Blog document type (and probably Blog month and Blog post as well). You can do it via Site Manager -> Administration -> Permissions -> Document type - Blog.
