Exporting Blogs

Kelly Shepard asked on June 8, 2017 17:32

Currently running latest version of 9. I have exported my site and created it as a new site on another server. Since doing this, we have made a lot of changes to our blogs (from deleting entire blogs to moving blog posts to other blogs). I can’t for the life of me update the new site I made to reflect those changes. I have tried to export the site again and import it into the new one, but the changes are not reflected. I have tried to sync the current site to the new site and it does not reflect the changes. What is the best way to get the blog changes into the new site?

Use content staging to sync the changes from one site to another.

You can also look into a tool called Compare for Kentico.

I have tried that...it does not reflect the changes on the target server. I will look into compare. For now, I have used VS SQl Object explorer data comparison tool and I think I have gotten it all straightened out.

When you say "created as a new site on another server" do you mean you installed Kentico and added a new site from the UI or did you simply copy the files and database to that new server? If you're attempting to create a new site, it will most likely fail since the site id's and code names could be different, not to mention the node and document info.

Are you getting any errors when using staging? Anything in the Kentico logs or IIS logs?
