Error while creating new media library

meher akhil asked on August 29, 2018 12:43

"Access to the path 'c:\Web_sites\kenticolab.com\wwwRoot\Web080640\Pictures\Kadena\Pictures' is denied. If you are using source control to manage the files, you need to check out the object before you edit it." While creating a new media library to a new site the above error message is being displayed. Can anyone help me?

So, the issue is the Meher created a custom web site in the hosted demo environment. While for the out of the box sample web site we are able to check the media libraries folders and their files to apply appropriate security restrictions, this cannot be done when you create a custom web site. The creation of site is allowed to see how the process works but then the access to the file system is not allowed. In such a case you should download the installer and install the trial version on your machine, where you have access to the file system to set the right disk permissions.

You need to assign permissions to media library folders. Check this link to do that.

You can check the rights for user running the App Pool in IIS for website directory. App pool user should have read/write access to CMS directory and its sub directories. Try right clicking on the site in IIS and select "Edit Permissions" and give full permission for IIS AppPool/apppoolname or IIS_iusr

I gave all permissions. The problem is with the path. I don't think it is due to permissions. the error still continues

Hi Meher,
Without the access credentials we cannot access the hosted demo. Moreover, there are also several security restrictions. Anyway, I just tested it on my hosted demo instance and it is working fine. I would recommend to register for a new hosted demo trial - maybe something went wrong when creating the current instance.

Hi Juraj, I think the problem is with the hosted-trial. Thanks for the support
