If you will upgrade it for the live site, then it should be fine. But these are also used in the Admin UI and the newer versions can make some parts of the UI not to work.

You can use the latest versions all day long on your front facing website, but don't change the versions Kentico uses or it will cause you a lot of pain. Don't make modifications to files in the /CMSScripts directory EXCEPT for within the /CMSScripts/Custom directory
