Document check-in/check-out feature disappeared after changing to a new server

We recently moved our Kentico 6 web app to a new server. We copied the files and database without any problems. Everything just worked, except the ability to check-in/check-out documents, which has simply disappeared as though the feature were disabled.

Under Site Manager > Settings > Content > Content Management > Workflow, "Use check-in/check-out" is checked.

How might I repair this feature?

Hello Bryan,

This is really strange. What are the differences between the environemnt of these two servers? Just to be sure, could you please also check this setting on the global level as well as the site level (drop-down located in the left top corner).

Hi Martin,

The old environment was: - IIS 7.5 - Windows Server 2008 - SQL Server instance on the same server

The new environment is: - IIS 8.0 - Windows Server 2012 - SQL Server instance on AWS RDS

The site-level settings are set to inherit from global.

After several days, nothing has changed. Everything's working fine, except that check-in/check-out no longer appears.

Hello Bryan,

I would recommend you to try to install a clean installation of Kentico 6 and check if the same issue will occurs. This could be caused by the environment as Windows Server 2012, neither IIS 8.0 haven't existed when Kentico 6 was released so this configuration is also not officially supported for Kentico 6.
