Deploy custom setting key

Jason Grant asked on November 30, 2020 13:32

Hello,

I added a custom setting inside a module, as per documentation. However in the Staging section only 2 tasks were created ("Create Settings category '....'"), which correspond to the 2 parent categories I created, but nothing about the actual setting key.

I tried exporting the module to see if maybe it was there, but it wasn't either.

How are these settings supposed to be deployed to another server?

Many thanks.

What hotfix are you using on your Kentico 11? I am asking since there was a bug fixed in no.14 regarding staging of settings. If you are using older version, please apply the latest hotfix for Kentico 11.

I can see the bug fix 14 that you mention, but we have hotfix 47 installed.

So I understand then that staging is the way to go. What else could be causing this behaviour?

I just tested it and it is working fine for me. I have followed this documentation and then I have synchronized all the related staging tasks created by those actions. And it worked fine. One more idea - make sure that the macro hash salt string is the same across your environments. Make sure there are no errors in any Event log and try re-signing macros in all environments.

We tried resigning all macros on 2 environments, but still nothing is being added to staging (actual settings, as categories are added properly).

The event log doesn't show anything and the salt is the same on all environments.

When you create a new setting, some dummy just for testing, does it work? What customization was done to the project? Are you able to reproduce the issue on any other Kentico instances? Especially on some clean, out of the box one? If yes, what are the exact steps, please?
