Default Media Library

Katrina Miday asked on June 23, 2014 15:45

I have a custom document type that will be used for specific information on the website. I setup a specific media library for image files related to this document type, but the staff adding content to the site have a tendency to add files to whatever media library folder opens up.

Is it possible to only allow a specific media library to be available with a specific document type or at the least set a "default" media library when using the Media Selection form control?

I'm guessing I will probably need to build a custom form control, but I'm not sure how to specify within the custom form control which specific media library should be available or be selected by default.

In your doc type's field if you've selected a URL selector control, you can configure that control in the doc type, to open and only allow specific tabs and start in a default path. This should accomplish what you're looking for. By default the "configuration" is minimized, so you'll have to scroll just below the control and click the "configure" link to open it up.

Thank you, that looks what I'm looking for! I'm having trouble configuring it though. Under the Media Tab, it lists all of the sites I'm currently running, but under site libraries, site groups and group libraries the only options are all, none or current. Are these supposed to populate with what is configured on the selected site? Thank you again!

Actually, I just found that this might be a bug, is someone able to confirm this is the same thing?

Form controls - 'URL selector' form control didn't work in custom settings If a custom setting was created using the 'URL selector' form control, an error occurred when trying to set the setting. 7.0.80

@Katrina, if you have old data of a different datatype in that field, you could get an error when trying to save the newly updated field. Best to delete the old field and recreate it.

Also, you can set the starting path and it should go directly to that path/library. So if you select {CurrentSite} and add the path then it should go to that path for that site.
