Why would certain pages not trigger Google Analytics

Michael Purgar asked on October 15, 2019 22:39

Hi everyone -

I've just set up Google Analytics on my site, and so far so good... except for a search results page. The main search results page isn't registering in the results or when I go into Preview Mode in the Tag Manager, even though a different search page using an almost identical template is.

Unfortunately I was not the one to set these pages up originally and the initial developer is not available to ask, but is there some setting I might be missing that would exclude one search page but not the other? I'm setting up search term tracking and would need to be able to do so for both pages, and cannot see any differences between them that would cause only one of them not to work.

Any help greatly appreciated... thanks!

You might take a look at the pages and how they are configured. Start by looking at the Search page Properties > Navigation > Basic properties. Make sure both checkboxes are checked (show in navigation and sitemap). Next, scroll down to Search & SEO and make sure the "exclude from search" box is not checked.

Lastly, check to see if you have a "robots.txt" file and make sure the URL for that search page is not in there.
