I just realized something. There is a bug in these question/answer forums. In my very 1st question above, I'm mentioning I need to modify the HTML tag, except I used the angle brackets around the word HTML, and it cut off the rest of my post.

So, basically, I need to find where the master page file is, and remove the hard coded HTML tag, so I can set it in the textbox used in cms desk.

Thanks! (I really wish you could modify your original question)

I think the only solution for this is to use an aspx master template.

Going off of memory here...

Try CMSPages\PortalTemplate.aspx

Hello,

Yes, the CMSPages\PortalTemplate.aspx is the template all portal pages are generated from.

Best regards, Jan Hermann

I'd recommend NOT modifying the PortatTemplate.aspx page and using the HTML Tag Webpart with some code in the webpart like suggested here
