What does the "stylesheet" dropdown under Page Properties > General do?

Stephen Rushing asked on April 13, 2015 23:16

I don't see a reference to the stylesheet specified in a page's General tab, only the stylesheet from the Site configuration.

It allows you to change the stylesheet for that particular page from inheriting the base site stylesheet. Generally what I do is if there are different, one-off styles, I'll add a new stylesheet and just add a stylesheet webpart on that template and reference it.

OK, that's what I'd expect, but apparently it doesn't affect the Master page. When a co-worker changed it, there was no reference to the selected stylesheet in the page output. I've tried it on some sub-pages, and it does appear to change the primary stylesheet reference there.

Thanks, Brenden.
