Web Farm keeps on having Transitioning Status

Michael John Veloso asked on December 23, 2019 11:08

Hi,

We have setup Kentico 12 MVC on web farm.

Kentico web farm monitoring keeps having a "Transitioning" status it never go back to healthy or not responing status.

Sometimes it get Healthy Status and then when you refresh it is back on transitioning again.

No error log in the event log.

Anyone experience this issue?

Thank you very much in advance.

Can you access all web farm instances by direct URL?

Hi Roman,

Yes I can.

And been 24 hrs the Status of the web farm in Kentico Web Farm Monitoring is still in Transitioning.

I have done all that is stated in this: https://docs.kentico.com/k12sp/configuring-kentico/setting-up-web-farms/troubleshooting-web-farms https://docs.kentico.com/k12sp/configuring-kentico/setting-up-web-farms/debugging-web-farms

This is really strange. Have you tried restarting all the servers? The web farm servers checker, in fact a specific aspx page within the project which is pinged every 20 seconds. If there is no response on the ping, server goes to Transitioning state for 3 minutes. Within these 3 minutes, if the ping is still failing, server goes to Not responding state or if the ping starts answering, servers goes to Healthy state. So, it is strange you have the transitioning state for such a long time. There must have been some "freeze" somewhere.

In the past there was a physical page in the CMSPages folder for this, which was them made virtual. But in the latest versions this has been changed and the ping is checking the DateTime. Now from the web farm server. If it returns correct value, it means the server is up and running.

Thanks. We are still in the process of upgrading and so we ARE on the older version and have a serious problem, along the lines mentioned by the OP. As such, if you can tell me the name of the physical page used in the health check requests in CMSpages, then we can give that to our operations team so they can confirm that whether the issue is application, host or network related. thanks!
