Hi guys,
Following Google's blog post about mobile ranking, we have initiated a performance revision of our websites and discovered that Web Analytics module is quite interesting and not necessarily in the right way.
Of course, WA is very important for our webmasters so it's necessary.
I did some tests in local and in preprod and apparently, the activation of WA adds 250 to 275 ms to the page generation and so to the Time-to-Frist-Byte(TtFB).
Following your audit recommendations, WA should be active only when used. But lets say our webmasters uses A/B tests for 8 months in a year. In this case, our Google ranking will potentially be impact in the wrong way.
So my question, do you have any input for me?
thanks
I have talk to Timothy Fenton and according to him, there is page visit logging methods that were totally removed in version K10.0.11 and which drastically reduced the TtFB.
Thanks for you help
Only enable the analytics in Kentico which are needed to run your A/B tests. If you don't enable them all you can Dave on some load times.
Hi Brenden,
That's exactly my point. But as our business requires it to do A/B tests it has to be enabled for some long period of time.
But it comes big TtFB impact.
Have you looked at other areas of improvement within your code or Kentico to improve? What version of Kentico are you on?
Of course we are going to a performance improvement across all our infra.
WebAnalytics seems now to be a problem.
We are on K9.
Thanks
