Unresolved macro errors

Mark Elliott asked on January 26, 2015 23:34

Some of our users had difficulty logging into CMS desk today and when checked the Event Log there were a ton of Unresolved Macro errors. After some searching around here it said to Update the Macro signatures and so we did that and it seemed to resolve the errors but what could have caused an issue with the macros? Nothing changed in the system configuration.

Did the connection string to the database change for the site? If so, this could have caused the issue. Check out the documentation that talks about the connection string and how to set a salt hash without the connection string.

No nothing changed in the configuration of the site, that's what makes it a little bizarre.

What version and hotfix are you on? Does anyone else have access to the admin area to change things that could have possibly made a modification?

We are running v8.1. Only myself and one other person have access to the admin account, neither one of us changed the connection string. Plus if the connection string had changed the whole site would have been hosed and we certainly would have noticed that. Is the connection string the only thing that could have caused that?

Look at the link I initially posted. It has how the macros are signed and what would cause them to become unsigned.

Yes took a look at that, none of those conditions met anything that we did however. Its not the most pressing thing I guess since it hasn't occurred again but it just seems very strange. Thanks for your help though.
