Unique notification for every published page help

SHANE EBERT asked on April 14, 2017 22:59

Okay, I have just figured out how to create a basic workflow and get notification everytime a page is created. When anyone on my team creates a page they have to "Submit for Approval" which sends a notification to the team that the page status has changed.

This is great, but the reason I want notification is to keep track of UNIQUE pages that are created, so I can doublecheck that the meta data is correct and inline with our SEO strategy.

The problem is, once that page is created, if there are any changes there has to be another "Submit for approval" before the page can be published.

This is something I don't want, because I just want to be able to get a notifcation for each individually created page.

Do I have to do an Advanced Workflow to make this happen?

Thanks

Yes, basic WF doesn't offer you any options. But advanced one you can use the user option for editor to choose which path to take (but if they picked the direct publish on first create, it won't be good). So you may use the Condition option and use the rule "Page was created X day and more ago". You will have to test and see which make more sense, or you will have to create an custom step to fit your exact needs.

Basic workflow allows is sequential and does not provide you (editor) with options. Like Rui mentioned advanced workflow provides you with many options like user choice, first win, etc. (see more here), so your content will flow through different paths. Also advanced workflow allows actions in addition to steps.
