Time Zone Issue

Jürgen Gutsch asked on July 10, 2014 07:04

Hi,

I have a small issue with the time zones. Related to this documentation: https://docs.kentico.com/display/K8/Settings+-+System We set the "Site time zone" to UTC+1 and leave the "Server time zone" to default UTC-1 (we run the site on Azure)

If we are creating a new page and setting the Publish From date to now the page is not visible. If we set the date to now minus 2 hours the page is published, but publish date also is now minus 2 hours

Is it possible that the publishing engine is using the "Server time zone" instead of the "Site time zone"? If yes, does the "Server time zone" overwrite the real time zone of the machine? That means: Does a change of the "Server time zone" fix our issue?

Many Thanks Juergen

I believe the site time is specific for users and display time(s) only on that site. So if I'm UTC -5 (12:00 noon) and you're in UTC -1 (18:00) if there were times and such displayed on the site, they'd show differently for both of us. The scheduled tasks, which publish documents, run off of the server time.
