This web page has a redirect loop

Sam Power asked on August 12, 2014 04:44

Hi,

I have a Kentico 8 site sitting on my dev machine which is working all as it should. I have copied up all the files to a staging instance and set up IIS and everything correctly. Then I have copied the database from my dev environment to the staging environment also. I have update the connection string in the web.config to point to the new database and made all the adjustments in the settings for the new url (new license and update Site domain name).

I can access all admin areas of the site but when I try access the home page I am getting a redirect loop issue, I am not getting this issue on my dev machine despite all setup seemingly being the same. This is my first site building in version 8 of Kentico so I'm wondering if there is a change that I may not know about which could be causing this.

Has anyone else experienced such an issue?

Thanks, Sam

When you setup IIS did you add the domain name or IP address as a binding? I've come across this before specifically with having IIS incorrectly setup.

Hmmmm yeah it's not that. I can access the admin section of the site so the domain name binding is definitely set properly and working.

Do you have your primary domain only in IIS or aliases as well?

Hi Brenden, thanks for your help on this. We had our server provider run any available updates and this fixed the problem. My guess it was an IIS update that fixed the issue. Couldn't know what exactly though. Again thanks for your help.
