Search by field of document type

Greg Woz asked on October 16, 2014 11:00

Hello,

I would like to create a simle job board on Kentico. I have created a document type with fields such as: - job sector - job type as on screenshot attached. I am struggling to perform a simple search on these documents. I have created a new Online Form and SQL Search Results and form and it shows 'something' but does not matter which option I choose (all words, exact phrase etc.) I am ending up with a wrong search results. It's because e.g. Retail Loss Prevention is a job type but also a key word in job description of other jobs of different job type.

So what I need is a strict search by one of job document fields - e.g. by job sector that job sector string given in Online Form matches exactly to Job sector field given in job document when created.

Can you advice or point me to direction where I can find an answer how to do it?

Hi,

I'm not sure did I understand you. But you can setup what fields can be searched. Also are you using Smart Search or SQL Search?

Does this help? Image Text

Where are you trying to perform the search? Within Kentico or on a "public" facing page you're creating? One of the features Kentico has setup is alternative forms. If you simply create an alternative form with a code name "filter", you can add/remove any fields you want and create a filter form for use nearly anywhere on the site.

Check out the documentation on Automatically Used Alternative Forms
