Registering site in Kentico Installation Manager error

David Pearson asked on July 16, 2018 21:31

I keep getting "Specified directory does not contain a Kentico installation" when I try to register a site that I inherited from an outside agency.

What file and I am missing?

The website works. I try using Kentico 9 through 11. The Kentico version is 9.xxx. Want to use Kentico Installation Manager to upgrade the site.

Thanks David

Have you tried to clear the cache in the Kentico Installation Manager?

Check the web.config for some custom <location> nodes. Sometimes these cause problems. Comment them out and try again. I'd suggest leaving them commented out throughout the upgrade as well.

Secondly, make sure the you're pointing to the directory above the /CMS directory in the file system.

Hi Brenden,

I got it working. A bunch of files was missing in the Lib folder. I did not know the installation manager checks that folder. I was able to get the site updated on my local to Kentico 10 using the installation manager.

Updated all the custom code, and now checking for any transformations that needs to be updated.

Thanks David
