NoIndex (Exclude From Search Function) Not Working Kentico 13

Kaur Navneet asked on April 8, 2024 09:33

Hi

In Kentico 13, no index tags are not working. But K11 automatically adds the following tag when I exclude the page from search: as <meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow" /> But I need it to be "noindex, follow" in K13.

Does anyone know how I can remove or edit this tag?

In Kentico 13 the live site is served by your application and your code - you need to add these attributes to the links in your code. In Kentico 13 this setting just excludes the page from local search indexes.

Hi Juraj

Thanks for your response! However, on the Kentico documentation, it says that this function does add the <meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow" which I'm looking for:

Excluding pages manually

In Kentico 13, I Excluded with smart search and also checked the Exclude the search. But view-source doesn't see any robots.txt and index/noindex

Could you please send me link to the documentation? It sounds like it is a leftover mistake from portal engine. I just found information that this check box excludes given page from local search indexes but no mention of adding an extra HTML code.

Well, that documentation is for version 11 - portal engine. You are using different version - Kentico 13 and different development model. You cannot interchange these!
Please, refer to my first reply - in Kentico 13 the front end web site is served by YOUR front end app and you have the control over the rendered HTML code. This means, you need to code this in your front end app!

If you are using Cloudflare you can easily modify the response header to include X-Robots-Tag = nofollow here is an example: https://www.wp-tweaks.com/how-to-add-a-cloudflare-noindex-x-robots-tag/
