Newsletter Content

Dianna Cheng asked on April 30, 2014 13:18

Hello,

I'm somewhat new to Kentico, I am wondering if it's possible for users/content editors, to reuse the content they have inside the email Newsletter within another area of the site. They want a responsive Newsletter page that reuses the content they've entered for the emailer, without having to enter it twice. Is this possible? What is the process for this?

Thanks

Dynamic Newsletters send a page from the site as the email.

There is a Newsletter Archive webpart which will display the issues of a newsletter on your site. You could place that webpart on a page and show your newsletter without duplicate entry.

Thanks Zach and Brendan.

Zach, do you know how well Dynamic Newsletters work if the page that's used is responsive?

Brendan, we already have a Newsletter and we also have a page that displays the archived list, however, when you select a newsletter from the archived list the page displayed is essentially the email, marked up with tables etc. They want this to be responsive as the rest of the site. So I was wondering, if I create a new responsive template for a site version of the newsletter, could they reuse the same content and retain their current Newsletter email template.

The newsletter issue that's displayed it the exact content that you entered in the email. If you want it to be responsive, then you'd need to make your newsletter issue be responsive OR create a new page with responsive content from the newsletter, which would mean duplicate content.

Hi Diana,

I use something similar to what you are looking for I believe. I have a "Newsletter Container" node that has a responsive web design. The page has a static HTML that uses a custom macro to pull content from custom documents below the current node. The custom document's have a field for HTML that displays on the page.

The dynamic newsletter sends out the Newsletter container as the email (which switches it's content weekly based off the node below it and some date logic).

You could use this same set up for dynamic news letters, and if you want to display the content on the live site just pull it from the required Custom Document Node.

Hope this helps.
