Migrate site to Kentico

David Ugale asked on November 18, 2015 22:47

We have an existing site with over 2000 pages that we want to migrate over to Kentico. What is the best approach to this? I've looked into the Import Toolkit as a possible option and it seems that you might be able to migrate a site by using XML files.

How is your current site created? Are they static HTML pages or do you have some other CMS you might be able to export data out of? The import toolkit will get you some of the way but won't get everything.

It is in another CMS (Ektron). I was able to export the data out as XML, but now I'm trying to understand how to import that data into Kentico. If we can just get the content into Kentico as individual pages, that should be enough to start with. Also, we should be able to convert the existing XML into whatever format we need. What would be a good approach to import the data into Kentico?

Depending on how your XML data is you may be able to import that using the Toolkit. But I think a better solution might be to find a partner who has already done something like this or someone who has already created a tool to do so. No point in recreating the wheel! :)
