Kentico Upgrade (8 to 11)

We are upgrading Kentico 8.1 to 11.
After upgrade a new instance on production, can we synchronize current production content (k8) to new upgraded instance (k11) (Means, sync 8 content to 11 content) ?

Or we need to freeze production during upgrade period?

What is the best plan?

You will NOT be able to sync an older versions content to a newer versions content. And Visa versa.

Yes, I suggest a content freeze unless you can upgrade your stage/dev environment and let your editors make changes there. Then when you get your production environment upgraded, stage the changes from your new stage/dev envirnoment to your new production environment.
