Kentico 10 Staging Module Error

Brian Brown asked on January 26, 2022 16:51

We just upgraded from Kentico 9 to Kentico 10 (we will be going to 12 shortly) but in the staging module I'm getting this message on Staging -> Pages

XML definition file not found.

Setting up a server worked fine and in the Event Log there is a Warning for

Event ID:1750054

Event type:Warning

Event time:1/26/2022 9:48:03 AM

Source:FiftyOne Degrees

Event code:MissingDeviceData

User ID:53

User name:administrator

IP address:10.17.0.2

Description:Could not load the devices data package.

Machine name:SIIS2012R2DEV

Event URL:/Admin/CMSAdministration.aspx

URL referrer:https://staging-ridemcts.ascedia.dev/Admin/CMSAdministration.aspx

User agent:Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/97.0.4692.71 Safari/537.36

But I'm not positive if that's related or not.

Thanks for any suggestions!!

Check the /App_Data/CMSModules/DeviceProfile folder for the following files:

51Degrees.dat and devices.xml.

If they aren't there, then find them in a backup of your version 9 site or look for them in a fresh install of version 10 and copy them to your current instance.

I added <add key="CMSEnable51D" value="false" /> to remove the 51 degrees error and I'm no longer getting the Event Log errors related to that.

I did have those files you mentioned and am unfortunately still getting the

XML definition file not found. on Staging -> Pages

I'd suggest removing the web.config key and disabling it in the database. You can do this in Settings under:

Content > Content management > Mobile development > Enable device profiles

Unfortunately, if you have any Device Profiles created and mapped to any layouts, you may still receive this error.

Still getting.

XML definition file not found. on Staging -> Pages

Checked console logs and don't see any errors in there either.

After these changes, have you restarted your site to ensure cache is cleared.
