How to allow specific users on-site editing to only specific content tree nodes?

How can I allow on-site editing for certain users, but restrict it to certain sections of the site?

For example: We have an intranet site with various departments (Human Resource, IT, etc). I want to give the HR director the ability to modify the widgets ONLY for the Human Resources section of the content tree.

Everything I've tried seems to be all-or-nothing. Either they can edit content across the entire site, or nowhere at all.

Hi,

This is the same as for the admin UI - you need to specify the page level permissions for given users and roles.
