How can I fully customize UI Personalization?

Kurt Muller asked on September 4, 2018 11:49

Hi guys

I’ve created a new role, and have set specific UI Permissions for it, but when logged in with this role assigned to the user, they still see a lot of the items I did not select with user permissions. It seems like it still inherits the Editor privileges. How do I change this so that it places the Role UI Personalizations as priority?

Hi,
Have you also checked the UI personalization setup for the generic roles like Everyone, Authenticated users? They may have set also some UI personalization and enabled items - so you may need to remove these from this role UI personalization.

Can you check if that user is already assigned to some role? Have you test your new role with new user having access level as None? Check this link it might help in your case.

I've tried to set the access level to None, but then the user is not able to login to the admin portal. If I can get that right then that would work.

Maybe I should rather ask; How do I give a user with Privilege level: None, access to the Admin Portal?

Go to Users -> Edit User -> Privilege level. Set it to None and the assign this user your custom role.

Thanks Arun, I've done that already, but what do I set in the custom role to grant them access to the admin portal?

It seems like you have to set user access level from None to Editor and then give access to Administration only under UI Personalization in custom roles.

Hi Kurt,

It's not possible for user with 'None' privilege level to access to Admin interface. You can read more about privilege levels in documentation.

Regarding about role issue that you reported, how many roles specific user have assigned? If user have more then one role, you will gave access as UNION of all allowed permissions for both roles. You can check roles assigned to user by going in 'Users application -> (Edit specific user) -> Roles tab'.

Best regards, Dragoljub

Hi Dragoljub,

I only have one role assigned to the user. Below you can see what I set in permissions, and what I see in the portal as a user with that Role.

@Juraj, both Authenticated and Everyone UI personalizations are empty. Nothing is selected.

@Juraj, you are a legend! I found it. The main items are not checked, but the deeper you go down the tree, you find them.

Thanks so much!!!
