Homepage URL

Mike Rainsbury asked on September 15, 2015 11:55

Hi

Is it possible to set up our site so the URL of the homepage contains only the main part of the domain. i.e www.simplelandlordsinsurance.com/ instead of www.simplelandlordsinsurance.com/home

On the master page, I have changed the link for the logo in the header to direct to '/' which works fine, however, the link to 'home' in the top navigation bar (CSSListMenu webpart) directs to /home.

If it is possible, can you let me know how to do so - an idiots guide would be appreciated as I'm no developer.

Thanks Mike

Hi Mike, Yes you can do this easily by changing the setting:

Settings -> URLs and SEO -> SEO - URLs -> Default page

Change this setting to "Use domain root" and that's it :-)

More information see the documentation

I know this is an old answer but I am having the same issue with a multilingual site. Our main '.com' home page is fine and does not show 'home' in the path (www.autobag.com). However, translated versions on their own ccTLD are displaying/redirecting to 'home' even though I've set the setting as above and double-checked that the 'home' page for the alias is set to '/': www.autobag.be, www.autobag.co.uk, www.autobag.de are all examples of this where you can see this happening.
