Getting 404 when trying to access images

Yehuda Lando asked on February 18, 2014 10:41

Hi,

I'm trying to access files stored in a media library, and get a 404. When accessing it through the perma link (/getmedia/e674ea37-d73b-44ba-a31f-530819119402/DSC00973_120), I get to it. But when accessing it through /BlankSite/media/Authors/DSC00973_120.gif, I get a 404.

The weird thing, is that if I make a configuration change, like changing the web.config, I can access it for a minute or two. Also, the request physical path (C:\inetpub\wwwroot\BlankSite\media\Authors\DSC00973_120.gif), exists.

Thanks

Hello Yehuda,

Are you using extension-less URLs?

Also check that your IIS settings are set for a specific file extension: IIS 7 and higher

Yea, I am using extension-less URLs, and my application pool is set to Integrated. In my trace log I get this message: MODULE_SET_RESPONSE_ERROR_STATUS

ModuleName CMSApplicationModule Notification MAP_REQUEST_HANDLER HttpStatus 404 HttpReason Not Found HttpSubStatus 0 ErrorCode The operation completed successfully. (0x0)

I added that folder to the Excluded URLs in settings, and now I can access the file. but is this needed?
