Files located within IIS site but outside of Kentico

Hi,

Updated from Kentico 7 to Kentico 9 and this happens with Kentico 9 site only. I have some files located outside of Kentico9 environment http://{Kentico Site}/App_Themes/Files

But when I navigate to a file located in the /app_themes/files/ folder - tree.pdf and I am not authenticated, I can download the file. - When it was in Kentico 7 you would be prompted to a logon page within kentico to get the file.

Kentico 7 anonymous authentication - Can be disabled and site works. Forms Authentication - Enabled

Kentico 9 anonymous authentication - Can NOT be disabled, site does not build. Forms Authentication - Enabled

Has something changed within the anonymous authentication part of allowing the sites to load between versions?

How would you recommend getting around this? Thanks D

As far as I know nothing has changed for that part of the authentication. I have several v7 sites and v9 sites running without issue using anonymous authentication disabled. You might compare the your IIS websites and see what is different if you have them running in different websites. Guessing there is some configuration which is incomplete or incorrect.

With anonymous authentication off are you still able to download a file via a direct link outside of kentico ? e.g. http://www.blablabla.com/app_themes/files/thisfile.pdf we can even on our Kentico7 sites direct download without authentication?
