Error in importing website to Kentico

Zhayne Soriano asked on September 11, 2014 15:27

Hi all,

I'm attempting to import a Kentico website package in Kentico 7 and in Kentico 8. However, I've been encountering the error below in both versions of Kentico.

I thought it might be a permissions issue. My application pool is using the NetworkService application pool identity, which current has Modify disk permissions for the Kentico folder in inetpub/wwwroot. However, the error still persists.

Any thoughts?

Error during temporary files creation. Original exception: [ImportProvider.CreateTemporaryFiles]: Data not found or the package is not a valid export package. (C:\inetpub\wwwroot\KenticoCMS7\App_Data\CMSTemp\ImportExport\Data)

Inside the .zip package, there should be a Data folder and inside that folder should be any number of folders and files but at least the Files and Object folders as well as a cms_import.xml.export file. If there is not that in your .zip then your package is not correct. If you find a .zip inside of the .zip, then unzip it and use the other package. Pretty typical when including instructions with a package.

Hi Brenden,

Thank you for your quick reply! Upon unzipping the .zip package, I found that there's no Data folder inside. Looks like I received an incorrect package.

Thank you again!

I have a similar problem in Kentico 11. I export the "Sites", but inside the file.zip I do not have the cms_import.xml.export file. How to deal with this
